This is an award ceremony for recognising Wairarapa success and Jack Hunter from Room 13 is nominated.  Congratulations Jack!

Wanted for Room 13

Do you have any bright material lying around that you no longer need? 
We are looking for bright material to make cushions for the two couches in Room 13.
The students will be sewing the cushions at school.
If you have some material that you can spare and would like to donate please let me know.

Wanted for our new rooms...

Do you have a 2nd hand microwave, toaster, jug or sandwich press that you no longer need? 
We are looking for these items as we would love to have them in Room 13 and 14 for the students to use to make their own hot lunch (especially over Winter).  
If you have any of these that you would like to donate please let us know.

Last Week of Term

It was a great start to the last week of Term 1. 
Awesome kids and a tremendous amount of learning. 
We had a great writing, literacy and math session for the first three blocks and then finished off the day with some art for our new classroom.

Wow - time has flown so quickly and it’s the end of Term 1 already!

Rooms 13 and 14 are expecting to move into the classrooms on Thursday, once the cleaners have been through. 

Final Assembly will be held in the Hall on Friday morning and whanau are all welcome.
Parent Interview / Home visits are still underway so if you haven’t heard back from your child’s teacher - please let us know. It’s been great to catch up with whanau at school or at home and we have a clear picture of where to next for your child.

Monday -

Breakfast Club - we need parent help to run this programme on Monday morning, so please come along at 8am to support us.

Tuesday - 

Leadership Camp for 2 Year 8 students overnight in Masterton. 

Year 7 / 8 Technology at Makoura College. Covered shoes is a must and long hair tied back. Bring a pen / pencil. 

Year 6’s from Room 13 to Matua James for Science. 

1pm Kapa Haka continues for all students interested. Matua James, Matua Frank, Whaea Lesley. Whanau Hui in the Staffroom at 6pm - 7pm.

Wednesday - 

Leadership Camp continues for 2 Year 8 students overnight in Masterton. 

Breakfast Club is open.

Gardening Group 1st block - any whanau who would like to help out in our school gardens or learn new gardening tips and tricks please come along.

Ki - O - Rahi Tournament for 12 - Yr 5 & 6 and 12 - Yr 7 & 8 students at Memorial Park in Masterton - whanau welcome to go along and cheer them on.

Whole School Assembly - Student of the Term at 9am. Finish school at 3pm - Have a safe and happy holiday.

Special Message

From 2pm this afternoon a number of the teachers will be supporting Kirsty Hull at the attendance of her father's memorial service. The children in Room 13 will be fully supervised by Mrs Kennedy. You are welcome to sign your child out early if you wish as they will not be following our normal programming. We appreciate your support at this time. We are sending our love and support to Kirsty Hull.

Our Potatoes being Judged

On Sunday our Potatoes were taken to the RSA for the Lions Potato in a Bag competition.

Sorry no prizes for Room 13 or 14.

A Visit From Mr Tankersley

Mr Tankersley was invited in to talk to Room 13 about how bikes work.  We got to have a ride on a funny bike.

We did an experiment to see how the gears worked.  

We worked out how far one pedal would take us on different gear levels.

Pedal Ready Day Two Photos

Last week Team Kahikatea participated in Grade One of the Pedal Ready programme and it was enjoyed by the students.  We would like to say a big thank you to the instructors for doing a fabulous job, as well as a big thank you to the Greater Wellington Regional Council for providing this for programme for us.  

We had a fantastic second day training with the Pedal Ready instructors.

We are just 2 weeks away from the end of the term, however we still have a lot of work to get through. The refurbish of Rooms 13/14 is nearly completed and we hope to be in before the end of the term - very exciting. Parent Interviews are underway so let us know if you are waiting for a time and you haven’t heard. There will also be some  Ki-O-Rahi practices this week with Matua for next week's tournament.
